The Infrastructure of TCM Data

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and acupuncture have evolved from ancient, experience-based traditions into a data-driven field of modern healthcare. Digital databases serve as the bridge between thousands of years of clinical wisdom and the rigorous demands of contemporary evidence-based medicine.

Modern TCM databases are sophisticated repositories that categorize everything from the molecular structure of herbal compounds to the neurological effects of specific acupuncture points. They act as a "digital library" where practitioners, researchers, and students can verify historical claims against modern scientific findings.

A Global Library of Knowledge

Since the emergence of Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) in the 1970s, modern healthcare has shifted toward a more integrated approach. Today’s practitioners no longer rely on clinical intuition alone; we bridge the gap between historical wisdom and rigorous scientific validation to provide the highest standard of patient care.

Our commitment to clinical excellence is guided by the research-driven recommendations of leading global health authorities, including:

A vast and growing body of research now supports the efficacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. At our practice, we actively synthesize this evidence into every treatment plan we create. While the majority of this data originates from long-standing research institutions in China, we are seeing a significant and exciting rise in high-quality clinical trials conducted right here in the West.

This global convergence of data allows us to treat every patient with a methodology that is both time-tested and scientifically informed.

Evidence Based Traditional Chinese Medicine Database (EBTCM)

The Evidence Based Traditional Chinese Medicine Database (EBTCM) is a comprehensive and systematically curated resource that aims to aggregate, appraise, and disseminate high-quality research evidence related to the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This database serves as an authoritative platform for healthcare professionals, researchers, educators, and policymakers in the TCM community by providing easy access to meticulously evaluated clinical studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and other forms of empirical data.

Evidence Based Acupuncture

Evidence Based Acupuncture (EBA) was founded by Dr Bartosz Chmielnicki, MD in 2014 to offer evidence based summaries of acupuncture for a wide-variety of clinical conditions using the language of science. Through clearly communicating acupuncture’s body of scientific research using the language of biochemistry and physiology, we enable patients, clinicians, and healthcare decision makers to best leverage this powerful treatment that has huge potential to improve and save lives while offering excellent value.

Ancient Literature Search Database

Unlock the foundational wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine through our comprehensive digital archive. This retrieval platform provides seamless access to thousands of years of medical history—ranging from the foundational theories of the Huangdi Neijing to the detailed herbal formulas of the Bencao Gangmu.

By bridging the gap between ancient parchment and modern digital search, we empower practitioners and researchers to verify historical treatments, track the evolution of medical theories, and find time-tested solutions for contemporary health challenges.

Chinese Text Project, Ctext

It contains medical classics (more than 30,000 ancient books, the largest database of Chinese literature from all dynasties), and the accuracy of the "original full text" category is high. It is still being corrected and updated. Some original texts are available in facsimile. It includes vernacular Chinese and English translations, covers digital humanities tools, and is open for collaborative editing.

A Comprehensive Dictionary of Disease Names in Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine (Second Edition)

Citing and referencing 458 Chinese medicine documents and 86 Western medicine books, this study specifically explores the similarities and differences between Chinese and Western medicine in the definition, symptoms, and diagnosis of the same disease, in order to search for and compare the Chinese and Western medical names for a particular disease.

Jicheng Traditional Chinese Medicine Literature Database

It is an open project that collects and organizes Chinese medicine classics. It provides many text files of classics, which can be used to help with revisions and also provide original file downloads.

Shidianguji.com

The app offers open access to 45,769 ancient books. Its strength lies in its open collaboration and public assistance in correcting the results of AI OCR, as well as providing comprehensive correction tutorials and opportunities to participate in ancient book correction projects.

Global Chinese Classical Text Image Open Integration System

It gathers rare books and classic texts from around the world, allowing users to search and link to various collecting institutions with a single click. Most of these resources provide original images of transnational books (some also include text files), with clear provenance. It is suitable for searching original texts and collecting institutions.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory and principles

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is built upon a sophisticated, holistic philosophy that views the human body as an interconnected ecosystem rather than a collection of isolated parts. At its heart lies the principle of Balance—the harmonious flow of Qi (vital energy) and the equilibrium between Yin and Yang. When this balance is disrupted by environmental factors, lifestyle, or emotional stress, illness occurs.

Our practice is guided by the Five Elements (Wu Xing) and Meridian Theory, which map the functional relationships between internal organs and the pathways through which energy travels. By identifying the root "pattern of disharmony" rather than just treating surface symptoms, we apply time-honored principles to restore your body’s natural ability to heal and thrive.

Yin Yang House

The Yin Yang House offers one of the most comprehensive (and free) Acupuncture, Chinese Medicine and Herbal Medicine websites in the world. Within these pages you will find the majority of the basic medical theory surrounding Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and related systems. Full details surrounding each acupuncture point and most commonly used Chinese Herbs and Chinese Herbal Formulas are available.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory and principles by Yo San University

In TCM, the body is seen as a complex system of interconnected functions and processes that are in balance when the person is healthy. When there is an imbalance, the body experiences symptoms and signs that reflect the nature and severity of the disharmony.
